TOKYO (MarketWatch) -- Japanese shares edged lower Thursday morning, with auto shares mostly declining following losses on Wall Street. Japan's Nikkei 225 Average was down 0.7% to 9,609.86, and the Topix was down 0.8% at 843.30 in Tokyo. Shares of Toyota Motor Corp. lost 1.1%, and Suzuki Motor Corp. fell 2.5%. Among the few gainers were shares of Aiful Corp. , which rose 3%, and Dainippon Sumitomo Pharma Co. , which added 4.6%, after both stocks saw ratings upgrades from Citigroup, according to Dow Jones Newswires.
