Home builder M.D.C. reports smaller loss 10/30/2009
BOSTON (MarketWatch) -- M.D.C. Holdings Inc. Friday said its third-quarter net loss narrowed to $32 million, or 69 cents a share, from $118 million, or $2.55 a share, in the third quarter of 2008. Total revenue dropped to $203.2 million from $362.7 million, reflecting the continuing slump in housing sales and prices. The pretax charge for asset impairments improved to $1.2 million from $95.4 million in the year-earlier period.
