Frequent flyers to bid OnePass miles; online auction package features business class travel on Star Alliance member carriers

HOUSTON, Nov. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Continental Airlines CAL today announced the opportunity for its frequent flyers to bid their miles on a premium around-the-world trip to visit eight wonders of the world in an online auction at auction.continental.com.

"We are pleased to celebrate joining Star Alliance by bringing this unique auction package to our most loyal customers," said Mark Bergsrud, Continental's senior vice president of marketing programs and distribution. "This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."

The winning bidder and a companion will travel from their hometown to Continental's Houston hub at Bush Intercontinental Airport and continue the journey in business class on Continental and other Star Alliance member airlines to visit the following destinations and sites:

  • Rio de Janeiro, statue of Christ the Redeemer
  • Rome, Colosseum
  • Delhi, Taj Mahal
  • Amman, Petra
  • Cairo, Great Pyramidof Giza
  • Beijing, Great Wall of China
  • Mexico City, Chichen Itza
  • Lima, Machu Picchu

The package includes hotel accommodations at each destination provided by Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide (where applicable). Airport transfers and private tours of each of the eight wonders will be provided by Continental Airlines Vacations. Bidding closes at 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 9, 2009.
