3M Co.’s drug-delivery unit has licensed some of its technology to vaccine developer VaxInnate Corp., the company said Monday.

3M Drug Delivery Systems said the deal with Cranbury, N.J.-based VaxInnate involves a 3M toll-like receptor (TLR) agonist, a drug that the company says has shown promise as vaccine adjuvants — additives that increase vaccine potency or efficiency.

Under the terms of the non-exclusive licensing agreement, 3M provides its TLR agonists to VaxInnate for an undisclosed licensing fee, in addition to milestone and royalty payments.

3M said it continues to seek other licensing partners for the drug technology.
