Rand takes stake in Ithaca company

An Ithaca-based technology company has received a $250,000 investment from Rand Capital Corp.

The funding from Buffalo-based Rand (NASDAQ: RAND) is targeted for Rheonix Inc., which is involved in microfluidic technology developed at Cornell University.

Rheonix began operations and was later spun out of the microfluidic division of Kionix Inc., also located in Ithaca.

Also participating with Rand in the financing round were Cayuga Venture Fund III L.P. of Ithaca, Onondaga Venture Capital Fund LLC of Syracuse and angel investors.
