Wake Forest University and Elon University have both been named among the 100 best values in private higher education institutions by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance. Wake Forest ranked 25th on the list of 50 private universities that combine economic value with exceptional education, while Elon ranked 28th on the same list.

Elsewhere in the state, Duke University ranked 6th on the same list as Elon, while Davidson College ranked 4th on a similar list ranking liberal arts colleges.

The California Institute of Technology topped the university list, while Pomona College topped the list of liberal arts colleges.

The schools were selected from a list of more than 600 private institutions and were ranked according to academic quality and affordability. Elon was specifically cited as one of six universities on the list that cost under $40,000 a year.

The complete list and more information about the rankings will appear in Kiplinger’s December issue, which hits newsstands next week.
