TGP Investments LLC has completed the previously announced acquisition of the event and custom media division of Ascend Media for an undisclosed amount.

The acquired division will continue to operate under the Ascend Media name from its offices at 7015 College Blvd. in Overland Park, TGP Investments said Tuesday. All employees will be retained. The number of employees involved in the transaction wasn’t available.

Cameron Bishop, founder and former chairman and CEO of Ascend, returns to the company as an investor and CEO. Barbara Kay was promoted to Ascend’s president, after previously serving as president of the Ascend Media division.

“We have the talent to continue to manage content streams as companies are finding that online communications tools require constant attention,” Kay said in a release. “Electronic products are increasingly labor intensive and require skilled teams to manage. Our event media and custom publishing division can offer content creation and management services as well as advertising and sponsorship sales on a turn-key basis.”

Eric Graham, managing director of Kansas City-based TGP, said in the release that he’s confident in the experience of the team that will run Ascend Media, calling it one of the most experienced in the business.

“Beyond that, TGP was attracted to the business as an investment because of its compelling suite of media services and communications solutions for its clients,” Graham said. “In researching both the company and communications trends today, it became immediately apparent that this business is both unique in its ability to serve clients and is on the cutting edge relative to the broad range of print and electronic products that the company can create and manage for its clients.”

The acquired division’s client portfolio includes The American Heart Association, the American Sport Fishing Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Baseball Hall of Fame. The division also has corporate clients such as McDonald’s Corp. and Ace Hardware.
